Resident Students
USD 207, Fort Leavenworth School District, by state statute, serves students in grade K-9 who are residents living in housing located on the Fort Leavenworth, Kansas military reservation, and the lands of United States Penitentiary, Leavenworth, Kansas. A resident student is any child who has attained the age of eligibility for school attendance (through ninth grade) and lives with a parent or a person acting as a parent who is a resident of the district. For the purposes of this policy, parent means the natural parents, adoptive parents, step-parents and foster parents. For the purposes of this policy, person acting as a parent means a guardian or conservator, a person by law liable to care for or support the child, a person who has actual care and control of the child and provides a major portion of support, or a person who has actual care and control of the child with written consent of a person who has legal custody of the child.
Children who are not enrolled full time in USD 207 will not be allowed to participate in school activities such as choir, band, sports, art, physical education, library, music, Cyber-TEAMS lab, etc. on a part time basis. The education resources allocated to the Fort Leavenworth School District are intended to serve the students who are enrolled full time. Other resources on Fort Leavenworth, such as CYS, ACS, and FMWR provide additional educational and athletic opportunities for families.

Nonresident Students
Nonresident students are those who do not meet the definition of a resident student. Nonresident students may be admitted to the extent that staff and facilities are available, and the criteria set forth in the District’s Enrollment Guidelines are met.
Homeless Students
Children who are homeless as defined by Kansas law, and who are located in the district will be admitted as resident students. (See also JBCA)
Homeschooled Students
Homeschooled children with special educational needs will receive special education evaluation and/or services in USD 207 upon request.
